St. Moritz is the best known resort of the Engadin, a high Alpine valley in eastern Switzerland. From Zurich Airport the drive takes around 3h30, crossing the Alps by one of the great mountain roads.
The route follows the motorway east along Lake Walen to Chur, then continues south through the Albula and Surses valleys before climbing the Julier Pass into the Upper Engadin. The pass road reaches the Engadin lakes, where the scenery opens into a wide, bright valley with St. Moritz at its centre.
Winter is the demanding season. Snow on the Julier Pass is routine, and your chauffeur drives it with winter tyres and local knowledge, adjusting the timing if conditions call for it. In summer the road is clear and the valley is busy with hikers, cyclists and visitors.
The entire trip stays within Switzerland, so there is no border to cross and nothing to prepare beyond travel documents for your flight into Zurich.
At this distance a private transfer replaces a long train journey with changes. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, handles luggage and ski equipment and drops you at your hotel door. The back seat is quiet enough for work or rest on the three and a half hours.
